New Zealand architect Richard Harris’ signifcant contributions to the field were recently recognised with an honorary Doctorate from AUT. While serving as chairman and managing director of Jasmax, Harris’ work had a large impact on AUT with the completion of the Sir Paul Reeves building, the Business School, the South Campus Mana Hauora building and others on the campuses.

In his acceptance speech, Richard said, “Even on paper with scribbles on it, everyone will see something quite different. We need to develop the power of believing what we see … go looking for that difference and grow to understand the value of your own special qualities.

“Make no little plans. They have no magic to stir one’s blood. Make big plans – aim high in hope and work.”
