A home for handcrafted leather footwear company Revie has opened in Ponsonby. After completing an architecture degree at Victoria University, designer Katie Revie realised her true passion lay in the relationship between the human body and architecture. She began to design ‘houses for the feet’ and formed Revie in 2014, with a line of footwear that responds to the urban world.
The Ponsonby boutique is the first brick-and-mortar store for the Revie brand, which has its shoes made by a family of leather artisans in Indonesia. Minimally furnished, the store features metal frames that hang down from the ceiling and grow up from the floor, creating shelving and racks to display fashions by New Zealand designers Lucy McIntosh and Mia Undone, alongside the new season’s range of footwear and a signature scented Mackinven & Co candle.
Revie was a celebrated part of Urbis Designday 2015, when it paired up with bathroom specialists Caroma to create an installation that offset the Autumn/Winter range of shoes against the bright whites of Caroma’s bathroom range.
