The Australian Canvas and Synthetic Products Association (ACASPA) presented MakMax with two awards at the recent ACASPA annual awards ceremony.

The innovative shade structure specialists received the award in the Tension Structures – Coated Fabrics greater than 500sqm category for Metricon Stadium. The second accolade was the Award for Excellence in the General category for their Trailfinders Australian Garden, presented by Flemings.

While both projects use tensile membrane the two could not be more dissimilar. Metricon Stadium consists of a 1400 square metre fabric roof at the newly redeveloped Carrara Stadium on the Gold Coast. Trailfinders Australian Garden, presented by Flemings, was a unique exhibition stand purpose built for the 2011 RSH Chelsea Flower Show in London.

This year the ACASPA award ceremony took place in Sydney, where the annual trade event ran from July 22 to 25. ACASPA Expo is the largest specialty fabrics trade show in Australia.

Entries were judged by industry experts who were selected for their knowledge in a particular field of study or product area. Winners were selected based on complexity, design, workmanship, uniqueness and function. The goal of the Awards for Excellence is to promote awareness of the specialty fabrics used in thousands of products and applications.
