This year marks Autex Acoustics’ third year of partnership with the Interior Awards, having joined the programme in 2020. Autex’s General Manager of Sales Marcel Herbke talks to us about Autex’s love of finding solutions within the design community, and how this feeds innovation and product development within their Declare-certified, carbon-neutral range.

What new products or innovations does the design industry need to be aware of?

Marcel: Almost any look is possible within our current product range, provided there is engagement with our design team. And new materials, colours and forms are also on the horizon!

What is your company doing to help specifiers and designers reach their clients’ sustainability targets or goals?

Marcel: Our products are made from recycled material, are all Declare-certified and carbon-neutral certified, plus we are operationally carbon neutral. We run a textile recycling programme that we plan to share with the wider textile industry and we’re further pushing the circular economy by creating components for our systems from our own waste.

What future trends, from your market segment, do you see on the horizon for the architecture and design industry?

Marcel: From a material perspective, I see a positive trend towards requiring greater stewardship by suppliers for their products throughout the product lifecycle. In workspace interior design, more than ever, healthy buildings and the wellness of occupants are in high demand to help attract and hold onto good staff.

If there was one thing you would like the industry to know about your company, what would that be?

Marcel: We love working with the design community and welcome any and every opportunity to get involved and help. Some of our best product initiatives, proudest projects and all-round good times are a result of working with designers and having an open mind to what is possible.
