One of Architecture NZ’s regular photographers, Simon Devitt, has joined forces with writer Andrea Stevens to create a stunning book, Summer Houses, that showcases the architecture of summer. This book is sure to get you fired up into designing, mending or re-designing your summer retreat.

Devitt and Stevens have captured more than 20 summer homes around New Zealand, each designed to maximise its connection with the surrounding environment and provide for a relaxing break. In a glossy printed format, this book is one for the coffee table; you can pick it up between swims and enjoy an envious glimpse at what is usually hidden away on private properties around the country. By Simon Devitt and Andrea Stevens, published by Penguin NZ, 2011, $49.95.
