The City of Sydney invites architects to enter designs for a new $40 million library and public plaza at Green Square Town Centre.

The library and plaza will be a new community and cultural hub and the centrepiece of the developing Green Square Town Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to make your mark on this new neighbourhood, where residents and workers will connect through local events, shops and cafes, plazas and parks, and where buildings will be linked to a ground-breaking low-carbon energy system.

A panel of designers, architects and cultural experts will shortlist the entries, giving the selected architects six weeks to prepare detailed submissions. A cost planner will assess all short-listed entries.

All stage one and two entries will be placed on public display, with comments invited from the community and interest groups and put to the “jury” for consideration.

The City will announce the winning design early in 2013, and expects a development application for the library and plaza to be lodged by mid-2013, with completion of the project by early 2016.
