A collaboration between Design Onscreen and Rialto Cinemas, and co-sponsor Rinnai, the Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival 2013 presents a programme of high-end independent films for architecture and design enthusiasts.

“In its second year running, Design Onscreen has selected a more lateral body of films that cover everything from the creative process as expressed by chefs, fashion designers and musicians, right through to environmental ways of being,” says Rialto Cinemas’ Lily Richards.

Richard’s top picks for films at this year’s Festival include From Nothing, Something: A Documentary On The Creative Process, ‘a film which profiles creative thinkers across a variety of disciplines, including architecture and design, to find the common techniques, habits and neuroses that lead to breakthrough ideas’, and Diller Scofidio + Renfro: Reimagining Lincoln Center and the High Line, a film which documents the extraordinary vision behind these two renovations.

The Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival will take place at Rialto Cinemas (Auckland and Dunedin) and The Embassy (Wellington) on the following dates:

  • Auckland: 9-22 May
  • Wellington: 25 May-5 June
  • Dunedin: 6-9 June

Tickets for the two seasons at Rialto Cinemas are available for purchase here. Tickets for the Wellington season can be purchased from The Embassy.
