The Arrival

Adapted from the graphic novel by 2011 Academy Award winner Shaun Tan, The Arrival features no English language. Instead it brings Shaun’s wordless worlds to life with a highly physical cast, puppetry, music, and shadow play.

The Arrival is about a man who flees his homeland and journeys across vast seas to arrive in a strange, wondrous new world where giant ships fly through the air and curious creatures abound. There he negotiates dazzling architecture, bizarre foods and foreign tongues to build a new life. On his travels the man meets fellow migrants each with their own tale to tell.

The arrival won Best Production, Best Set, Best Costume and more, at the 2010 Chapman Tripp Theatre Awards.
