Danish architect Lene Tranberg will present the 2016 Futuna Lectures Series in New Zealand commencing in Auckland on Wednesday 16th, followed by Christchurch on Thursday 17th March and in Futuna Chapel in Wellington on Saturday 19th March 2016.

Lene has a distinctive career in Denmark working in and managing the practice of Lundgaard and Tranberg, which she established with Boje Lundgaard in 1985. They managed and developed the practice together until 2004. Today the studio is run in collaboration with 6 other partners, employing 51 people. Lene is actively involved in the design of all projects as well as the general management of the firm.

In parallel with her career as a practicing architect, Lene began teaching at the Academy in 1986 and was employed there as a lecturer from 1989 to 1998. Lene is an adjunct professor at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. She has served as visiting professor at The University of Washington, Seattle, and is an honorary member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Most recently, Lene was a member of the Jury at the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2015. 

For the 2016 Futuna Lecture Series, Lene will speak about her practice as an architect, using a number of her recent projects to illustrate her design approach and thinking, reveal her influences and to share her architectural philosophy.
