Auckland Architecture Week begins 31 October

Though a full-blown Festival of Architecture was not able to happen this year due to COVID-19, the NZIA Auckland branch will host a week full of events from 31 October to 5 November.

The ever-popular Open Studios returns to the City of Sails on Saturday 31 October from 10am to 2pm, with eight studios already participating. Open Studios allows members of the public to go behind the scenes and explore architects’ workspaces. If you are interested in opening up your studio, contact paul.edmond@woods.co.nz.

Other events during the week include a combined opening for The Ground is Talking to Us: South Pacific Architecture and the Simon Devitt Prize for Photography: Since 2008 Retrospective exhibitions along with the launch of the book Cohousing for Life. This powerhouse of a celebration for three worthy projects will be held at Objectspace gallery in Ponsonby on 31 October from 2-4pm and will feature talks from exhibition organisers and more.

The week culminates with the New Zealand Architecture Awards, which will be held at the Christchurch town hall, with satellite events being held across the regions, where the event will be live-streamed.
