The London Olympic Stadium, The Lyric Theatre and the stunning Hepworth Wakefield gallery in Yorkshire are among the award-winning British projects in the 2012 RIBA Awards. All six winning projects will now go to head to head for the prestigious 2012 RIBA Stirling Prize, to be announced by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) on 13 October, 2012.

The 2012 RIBA Award Winners competing for this year’s Stirling Prize are:

1. The Hepworth Wakefield, Yorkshire by David Chipperfield Architects

2. London Olympic Stadium by Populous

3. The Lyric Theatre, Belfast by O’Donnell + Tuomey

4. Maggie’s Centre, Gartnavel, Glasgow by OMA

5. New Court, London by OMA with Allies and Morrison

6. Sainsbury Laboratory, Cambridge by Stanton Williams

The 2012 RIBA Stirling Prize judging panel include Sir Nicholas Grimshaw (Chair) – architect and former president of the Royal Academy; Sir Mark Jones - Master of St Cross College Oxford, and former Director of the Victoria and Albert Museum; Joanna van Heyningen - architect, van Heyningen & Haward Architects, UK; Hilde Daem - architect, Robbrecht + Daem, Belgium and Naomi Cleaver - designer, writer and broadcaster.
